Handshake

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) awarded COLDf's Rebound the MLKCommUNITY a Sustainable Transportation Equity Project Grant to conduct a planning effort to identify clean transportation needs and opportunities in neighborhoods within Southeast Bakersfield.

The Rebound the MLKCommUNITY project will educate the community about clean transportation options and empower residents to develop a roadmap and implementation strategy

centered on mobility equity.

The Rebound the MLKCommUNITY project is part of California Climate  Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.

feedback on Southeast Bakersfield Transportation equity toolkit and Roadmap

due by February 17, 2025

We are excited to share the drafts of the Rebound the MLKCommUNITY Transportation Equity Toolkit and Roadmap with you. These documents have been in development since 2022 and reflects the comprehensive community engagement process the project team undertook to gather direct feedback and insights from Southeast Bakersfield residents.

The information that shaped these draft documents was gathered through a variety of methods, including canvassing, tabling at local events, surveys, listening sessions, focus groups, and other community-driven events. Each step in this process has ensured that these documents truly represent the needs and priorities of the community.

The Transportation Equity Toolkit is a collection of practical resources, templates, best practices, and guidelines specifically designed to support individuals and organizations in Southeast Bakersfield as they work toward achieving transportation equity. The toolkit was developed based on the findings from the initial assessment of the project, as well as the community feedback collected over the course of two years. It provides actionable steps and strategies to address local transportation challenges, promote equity, and improve access to essential services.

The Transportation Equity Roadmap is a strategic plan outlining the steps necessary to achieve the long-term goals identified during the community engagement process. This roadmap provides a clear path forward, with detailed milestones and timelines to ensure meaningful progress toward transportation equity. It builds on community input and aims to address systemic challenges by leveraging partnerships, resources, and policy initiatives.

Please review the Draft Toolkit and Roadmap and submit your feedback via email to project@coldf.org by February 17, 2025, so that we can incorporate your valuable input into the final versions.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We look forward to hearing from you.
